Niti Valley Trek - 04 Nights and 05 Days Itinerary

The Niti Valley is located in the Garhwal Himalayan Mountains close to Joshimath. The valley is located on the eastern side of Mana Valley, close to Badrinath. The altitude of Niti Valley is approximately 3500 meters. The Valley derives its name from the village of Niti. The village of Niti is encircled by Niti Pass to the north and Tibet to the south. The population of Niti Village is approximately 35, predominantly consisting of elderly individuals. Niti Village lies within the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand.

The winter season in Niti Valley is challenging due to its high altitude. The heavy snowfall in Niti Valley from October to March makes winter living challenging. This is because most residents leave the Niti Valley during winter and return in April. Migration also involves a face migration issue, prevalent in most high-altitude areas of this region. Agriculture constitutes a significant source of income. Kidney beans cultivated in Niti Valley are well-known in the surrounding regions.

Before 1962, Niti and Mana Pass were utilized for trade between India and Tibet. A significant number of Tibetans migrated to India from Tibet due to war. Locally referred to as Rongpa or Bhotiya.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Rishikesh / Haridwar / Dehradun to Joshimath
Morning drive towards Joshimath. Make a stop at Dev Prayag, Rudra Prayag, Karn Prayag and Nand Prayag. Check into the hotel. Overnight stay in Joshimath.

Day 02: Joshimath to Niti Village
In the morning, after breakfast, go to Narsingh Temple and Shankaracharya Math. Head in the direction of Niti Village. Check-in at the home stay. Take a stroll in the village in the afternoon and discover more about it. Overnight stay in Niti Village.

Day 03: Niti Valley
After having breakfast in the morning, enjoy a stroll around the area. Relish the outdoors, connect with others, and discover lifestyle. Overnight stay in Niti.

Day 04: Niti Village to Joshimath
In the morning after having breakfast, check out. Transfer to Joshimath. After checking in, take a cable car to visit Auli. Overnight stay in Auli.

Day 05: Joshimath to Rishikesh / Haridwar / Dehradun
In the morning after having breakfast, check out. Transfer and drop-off in Rishikesh/Haridwar/Dehradun.
